The title of the film when and how does it appear on the screen?

The title of the film is called brick and the title is shown very sharply after it gets the viewers thinking what had has happened, what took place here and then the film name “brick” keeps audience thinking and why would the film be called that blunt word.

When and how is the setting and location revealed to the viewer?

The first scene that is shown is a girl dead on the floor near a flood barricade with a boy watching her. It shows mysterious scenery and straight away shows that the film is a thriller. The setting is shown as a cliffhanger so the audience don’t know esacally was they are and what has happened. Also the first scene is a contrast with the next one as in the first one it gives main hints at what the person looks like and what she was wearing and in the second scene it shows the same features of the person but in a school environment.

What costumes and props were used?

The costumes that were used were people dressed in young teenage clothes maybe secondary school. They are used well as it gives some background to whom these people are. The prop of the bracelets was a very good prop as it is a clue to an audience.

What camera shots and editing were used in the opening?

The main shots used at the start of the opening were the close ups on certain parts of the dead girls body, first of all it hints at what the boy is looking at her/body. Also there main clues to introduce the main characters. The editing were all fades and quick cuts to each clips.

What titles and font styles were used?

Some of the titles at the start were such things as “focus featured”. The text was big and bold but a text that you would find engraved on a brick. The just faded in or out.

How does it set the story up for the film in the opening?

It starts by a character being dead on the floor and it keeps audience thinking, who and what hapend to her, and wear had she been that night. It reverses the film by putting the conclusion of the film at the beginning of it and reverses it back to the beginning. This is a good effect as it grabs the audience’s attention straight away.

How does the opening suggest it’s a thriller?

It suggests that it is a thriller as it is first of all set in a gloomy place a mysterious place and doest give much clues to where about they are.

How are the main characters introduced?

The main characters are introduces in the first scene with one dead. Then you want to find out more about them which is a good aspect of this thriller as you want to watch on.
