Trailer to The Strangers
Cinematography:
Perfect shots and all shots centred and the construction of the shots create a good mise-en-scene and a sense of a happy beginning.
the trailer grabs the audience attention by how the camera shots become uneven and doesn't follow the golden rule of constructing camera shots, by doing this the effect on the audience is that it creates tension within the situation that is going on in the trailer and intrigues them to watch the film.
furthermore the trailer has tilt/fast shots which gives a sense of pace of adrenaline and panic within the trailer, the shots show in this adrenalin build up were not only the main focus of the audiences attention but also the main events that occur in the film.
Editing:
The editing within this trailer is used very effectively as the trailer uses it all the way through.
An example of this is that at the start/equilibrium of the trailer shows smooth fading effects from one clip to another to show a sense happiness and affection between the two main characters, however this all changes to grab the audience attention as the effect of the fade transition speeds up and slowly stops fading and just cuts to each clip. This shows that everything has sped up pace and relates back to the genre of the film, which is a thriller.
Finally titles are used in the middle trailer, to attract the audience to watch further.
Sound:
They have used the sound very effectively at the start as they have collaborated a minor key with a happy clip which conveys to the audience that what is happening on screen is happy however they know from the music that there is a sense of danger and future events that will take place.
the use of diagetic sound is used very creatively by using silent background noises and focuses on the breathing noise, which constructs a whole atmosphere to the audience, which drags their attention to what is happening, which is a main aspect of trailer construction.
mise en scene:
The overall look of the film is a slow but effective build up of tension as the film uses lots of quick shots with diagetic and non diagetic sound clips to build up suspense. for example a main scene in the trailer was when a face was shown behind the unknown character which is effective as it uses all elements at once, sound clip cuts and editing that finally builds up to the climax and start of the thriller bit in the film.
Triangle opening sequence
Triangle Trailer
This is the trailer for the film Triangle. This trailer is very well constructed as it starts of it opens with a creeps scary soundtrack which straight away creates a horror thriller atmosphere and grabs the audience to adventure the film. even though the film opens with horror music it then tops it of with quick pictures and clips of the scenery and what is happening/story line of the film which is a main aspect of trailers.
lastly an aspects of trailers was used again which was titles and voice overs. these were used to inform the audience what the plot is and practically make them to watch the film.
Opening to Eden Lake
This is the opening sequence of the film Eden Lake. Within this clip it shows at the beginning all the titles show with suspensory music which makes the audience anxiousness
and also grabs there attention and makes hem want to watch on.
also within the beginning sequence it shows very short fast snippits of what might happen in the film of events happening and people screaming in pain , which might relate to the film if you had not seen it before so again hooks the audience and creates an atmosphere.
Cinematography:
The cinematography in the opening of is very happy/ and vibrant ad they show lots of close ups of kids faces in a nursery and they show a character which shows up to be a main character. further more the camera shots mix in with the non diagetic music because even though all the shots are happy ones it gives a sense or scarce and creepyness as the shots that are composed are not perfect they are an angled shots which suggest a sence of uneasyness and a hidden dilema.
Editing:
The editing in this opening is that there are titles at the start it will do a title then a quick clip of the film then another title. they do this because they want to get the audience involved and keep them entertained for 2 hours at least.
Sound:
The sound in the opening is weird because it is all nice happy mise-en-scene but ad creepy music playing in the background and it to the audience gives a sense of events going down hill form this weird equilibrium.
Eden Lake trailer
This is the "Eden lake" trailer. In this trailer it gets right into the action and shows you straight away the scenery and the basic story line by using a voice over of what they are doing. Also within the trailer it shows you the main bits of what happens in the film and grabs your attention and makes you want to go and see the film. Further more it shows you all the main characters and what there like and through out the hole trailer even though it gives you all the good bits it doesn't give away what actually happens within the film so it leaves you mind at a cliff hanger. The main feature of it is that it shows all the clips shot and quick.
Cinematography:
Within the trailer there are lots of fast used shots to give across to the audience a sense of ambiguous setting and story also unclear events that happen in the film. The shots such as close ups on certain points in the film shows the most action and good points of the film and also by doing this it shows feelings of the characters in the film.
Editing:
The trailer includes lots of editing. Firstly it uses clear titles so that the audience can get a hint or a clue to what is happening in the film. Next on the video side of it, it used flashes and fades to swap between clips this makes the audience maybe jump and conveys a sense of thrill or that something is wrong, also when they use the flash effect it is red to give a sense of danger.
Sound:
The sound within the trailer is always at high intensity and through out the trailer it is always increasing. Also to finish the trailer the last thing they try and do is to leave the trailer at really immense intensity and then finish and put the title of the film, this make the audience want to find out what happens.
